Fr. Mac Scholarship Information
St. Oscar Romero Parish is pleased to announce two scholarships that will be awarded this June to two registered and active parishioners.
The $2500 scholarship is to be applied toward tuition costs at a Roman Catholic High School. These scholarships are made possible through a fund established in Fr. McLaughlin’s memory following his death as well as ongoing parishioner donations to the “Fr. Mac Scholarship Fund.” As many of you know, Fr. Bernard P. McLaughlin was a long- time pastor at St. Gerard Parish and was known for his dedication to our youth. He firmly believed Catholic education is an investment in both our Church and our society.
Candidates are encouraged to apply on-line using the button below. In addition to the online application, an essay, two letters of recommendation, a grade school official transcript, a list of extracurricular activities and a copy of the acceptance letter from a Catholic High School (if entering Freshman year) must be submitted to the Parish Business Office, c/o Maggie Rubenacker by Monday, May 22, 2023.
A member of our Parish Council, staff and a parishioner will review the candidate’s application and submit their recommendations to the pastor for approval. The winners will be notified by our pastor, Rev. Thomas Rafferty by June 2, 2023.
