2026 Fr. Bernard P. McLaughlin Scholarship
Supporting Our Parish Youth in Catholic Education
St. Oscar Romero Parish is pleased to offer two $2,500 scholarships to support registered and active parishioners who will be attending a Roman Catholic high school in the fall. These awards honor the legacy of Fr. Bernard P. McLaughlin, whose lifelong commitment to Catholic education continues to inspire our community. The scholarships are funded through the generosity of parishioners who contribute to the Fr. Mac Scholarship Fund.
Who May Apply
Students entering or currently attending a Catholic high school for the 2026–2027 school year.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit the online application at www.cantoncatholic.org, along with:
- two letters of recommendation
- an official grade school transcript
- a list of extracurricular activities
- a Catholic high school acceptance letter (incoming freshmen only)
- a personal essay responding to the prompt:
- “What does the following Bible story mean to you, and how can you apply this in your life?”
- The reflection should be based on Matthew 25:35–40.
All materials should be submitted to the Business Office, addressed to Maggie Rubenacker, by Friday, March 27, 2026.
Selection & Notification
A parish review panel will evaluate all applications and present recommendations to the pastor.
